Your item has sold on eBay. Before you pack it, there is another job to remember: take it off Depop so someone else cannot buy the same stock.
Listalong automatically ends the matching linked Depop listing when your item sells on eBay, normally within minutes. Connect both stores, keep the listings linked and carry on selling through your usual workflow.
That means less reliance on remembering to open Depop and remove sold stock yourself. Here is how to set it up and what to check if a listing needs attention.
Taken off Depop.
Listalong normally ends the matching linked Depop listing within minutes, helping reduce the risk of selling the same item twice.
What happens when your item sells on eBay?
Take a single pair of jeans listed on both marketplaces. Both listings refer to the same physical pair in your storage.
The buyer purchases the item through your eBay listing.
One physical item is now soldListalong normally takes the linked listing off sale within minutes.
Pack and fulfil the eBay orderThis is an illustrative workflow, not a record of a particular sale. The order still belongs to the marketplace where the buyer purchased it. You still need to locate the stock, pack it and fulfil that order.
For an overview of the product workflow, see how Listalong works.
Connect both stores and link your listings
Sign up to Listalong and connect your eBay and Depop accounts. Listalong pulls in the listings from both stores so you can work with the stock you have already listed.
You can crosslist a batch of suitable items or review and post them individually. The resulting marketplace listings should refer to the same physical item and remain linked in Listalong.
If you are starting with an existing catalogue, the bulk-import guide explains that process. Connecting accounts alone does not publish everything to the other marketplace.
Check the matching listings, especially for older stock
A link needs to represent the same item on both platforms. Two shirts with the same brand and size may still be different pieces of stock, particularly when you sell second-hand clothing with individual flaws or measurements.
For your first few crosslisted items, check the eBay listing, the Depop listing and their linked status in Listalong. Use a stock code or storage reference to help identify the physical item.
If you previously created both listings manually or used another tool, do not assume that similar titles mean the listings are already linked. Check before relying on sold-item sync or creating another copy. Resolve uncertain matches separately.
Keep a simple routine after orders arrive
Automation is most useful when it fits into the order checks you already do. When handling a sale:
- Confirm the order on the marketplace where it was placed.
- Identify the correct physical item using its stock code, photos or storage location.
- Check any Listalong connection or listing alerts that need attention.
- If something looks wrong, open the matching listing on the other marketplace and check whether it is still available.
- Pack and fulfil the order through your normal process.
You do not need to recreate your listing routine in a different editor. The guide to keeping your usual eBay or Depop workflow explains how crosslisting fits around it.
What if the item sold on eBay but is still live on Depop?
Confirm that you are looking at the exact item that sold on eBay. If the matching Depop listing remains available, use Depop’s normal controls to make it unavailable promptly, then investigate the cause.
Then check the likely points of failure:
| What to check | Why it matters | Next step |
|---|---|---|
| Store connections | A connection problem may interrupt updates | Follow any reconnection instructions shown in Listalong |
| The linked pair | The two listings may not be linked, or may refer to different stock | Confirm the exact eBay and Depop listings |
| Duplicate listings | Ending one linked listing does not prove an extra copy is unavailable | Look for another live listing of the same physical item |
| Activity and items needing attention | An update may be delayed or need intervention | Review the available status information before retrying |
If you need help, contact Listalong support with the relevant listing links and an explanation of where the sale occurred. Do not repeatedly recreate or relist the item while its status is uncertain.
Does it also work when an item sells on Depop?
Yes. When a linked item sells on Depop, Listalong normally ends its matching eBay listing within minutes. You fulfil the Depop order while the other listing is taken off sale.
The same requirements apply in both directions: working connections and the correct linked pair.
Sold-item removal is different from copying every edit
“Inventory sync” can mean several things. This guide is about the sale of a linked item causing the other listing to end.
It is not a blanket promise that every later price change, replacement photo, description edit or quantity update will be copied between platforms. When you change important details, check the destination listing as well.
For example, if you discover a mark on a shirt after crosslisting it, make sure both listings disclose that mark. Ending the other listing after a sale and keeping two descriptions accurate are different tasks.
What about cancellations, returns or multiple quantities?
This guide’s examples involve one-off stock: one physical item with one listing on each marketplace.
If an order is cancelled or returned, confirm the item is available and inspect its condition before offering it again. Check both marketplace listings and the link rather than assuming either listing has automatically been restored.
For multiple identical units, bundles or variation listings, confirm the supported workflow with Listalong before treating the one-item example as a quantity-sync system. The right action after one unit sells depends on the stock that remains.
Can this prevent every double-sale?
No. Updates normally happen within minutes, not at the exact same instant on both marketplaces. Closely timed purchases, connection problems or an extra unlinked copy can still leave a situation to resolve.
The benefit is reducing how much you depend on remembering to remove the other listing yourself. Accurate links, working connections and prompt attention to exceptions make that process more dependable.
If two orders do arrive for one item, verify both orders and use the affected marketplace’s normal cancellation and refund process for the order you cannot fulfil. Communicate promptly with the buyer.
Try it with a small group of stock
Start with items you can identify easily, confirm the linked listings and check what happens after a genuine sale. There is no need to make a test purchase of your own item.
You can then expand the workflow as you become comfortable with the controls. For new eBay stock, automatic category rules let you decide what should go to Depop and what should be excluded.
Less checking after every sale.
